Somebody is accusing Donald Trump of speaking with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. This person is known as a “whistleblower.” A whistleblower is someone who informs on a person or organization engaged in an illicit activity. The whistleblower also accused the White House of trying to cover up the incident. The White House allegedly hid the electronic transcript of the conversation. Some people are starting to speculate that the person who is the whistleblower is Rudy Giuliani. Rudy used to be Donald Trump’s lawyer.

     The scandal that is happening right now is reminiscent of the 2016 election when Trump was accused of speaking to the Russian government to help rig the presidential election in his favor. Trump has admitted to the actions he has taken with a tweet from September 27, 2019 stating that the conversation with the Ukrainian president did occur but it had nothing to do with anything of governmental concern, stating it is just a friendly conversation between two friends. Not to much after that he went onto say that the so called whistleblower is not actually a whistleblower. He said that it’s all second hand information which proved to be inaccurate that there may not have even been somebody else like a leak or a spy, or potentially a partisan operative. 

     In light of these allegations, Nancy Pelosi announced an impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump. Democratic officials are hoping to impeach Donald Trump by Thanksgiving. The details about how the House Democrats will proceed with their impeachment are still not clear but the public have a general sense of how it will work. The house is planning to go into recess, and some democrats have even told to be ready to stay in D.C. Members of the house of intelligence committee were told to be prepared to return to Washington during the upcoming two week recess to try and wrap up the impeachment.
