Lewis Cass Choir 2022/2023

The Lewis Cass Choir has started their year very strong. October 9th was the kickoff concert for an amazing year to come. The concert started off with the Kings Collective high school advanced choir singing We Don’t Talk About Bruno and When I Fall In Love. Those songs led to King Crescendos which is the sixth grade choir that sang When the Chariot Takes Me Home, The Moon, True Colors, Count on Me. Following them was Kings Chorus which is the junior high choir that sang Bring Me Water Silvy, Come To the Music, and Brave. Following them was the Kings Chorale Choir, an advanced junior high choir that sang There Has to be a Song, Oceans and Stars, and Butterflies. After that Kings Charisma sang Charlottetown, Danny Boy, and Bubbly.

After all of that the Combined Jr. High Choirs sang Songs of a Disney Villain. Following that Kings Collective came out one last time and sang No Time, and From Now on. Overall the choir concert had some amazing performances and amazing song choices. I talked to choir director Mrs Dubois and asked what her favorite moment from the choir concert was she responded by saying¨Good question, I think seeing the choirs sing more difficult songs then they ever have and seeing them have the same success that we are used to.¨ I then asked her what the hardest song to teach for the concert was she responded with ¨ The most challenging was probably when I fall in love¨ I then asked her what her what she wants the choirs to work on most for the next show she said¨ As we add back in the fun things in the concert we are going to have to work to maintain the same sound and quality that we have had.¨

Mrs Dubois has made a huge impact on the choir since she started in August of 2022. She has changed the choir program as a whole and it is something amazing that the community gets to see. This year’s seniors have also made a huge impact on the choir program as well. This year’s seniors are Kyah Preston, Savannah Bowser, Miki Klue, Ion Hook, Jesse Morgan, and Lauran Johnson. Which means that this choir concert was these seniors’ last first concert. I spoke with senior Savannah Bowser about her last first choir concert. I asked Savannah what her goal was for her last first choir concert. She responded by saying ¨My goal was to put my 100% energy into every song and remember every moment.

I think that this choir program is something special that Lewis Cass has and I can not wait to see what they do in the future. The next Lewis Cass Choir concert will be December 9th at 7:00 in the auditorium where you can see this amazing program come to life.
