This year’s 2025 junior high tennis team has been off to a great start. This year’s top 3 singles players are Luke Salyers, Oakland Preston, and Sawyer Eshelmen. The coaches for this year are Coach Rankert and Coach Bryan. The first match for this year was an away match against North-Western. Coach Rankert stated, “I hope for our first match, we don’t lose, of course, and just continue to see improvements throughout the season.” She also stated,” We are doing really well, and I hope we win all of our matches, but we’ll see what happens, but for right now, I think there is a lot of room for improvement and growth, and we will see how it goes.”
Before the match, we interviewed three people. The first person being Luke Salyers. Luke Salyers said,”I think I’m gonna do well, and yeah, win a lot of games.” While also saying that, “We will definitely be a good team this year.” Next up, we interviewed Jace Sopher. He seemed pretty confident as he stated, “I feel pretty good and I think I’m gonna destroy them.” Lastly, we interviewed Max Hull and he said, “I feel like I’m gonna do pretty well and it’s gonna be an even match.”
The match ended with Lewis Cass taking home the win. Max Hull had a win and said, “I think I did pretty well tonight.” while also stating that there is room for improvement even though he won his match 8-1. Jace Sopher has also won his match with the score being 6-1. Jace stated that he felt good with his first match. Jace thought that he could improve his skills as well by stating, “I feel like I can improve, and go 6-0.” Overall, Lewis Cass has done a great job after their first match and will hopefully win a lot of matches this year.
