The crowd roars, lights shine bright, and every pitch made history. The 2025 World Series is when the best in baseball battle for the ultimate prize. This year’s World Series champions were the Los Angeles Dodgers with their second straight World Championship. The Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays four games to three.
Star players from the Dodgers who helped lead the Dodgers to victory were World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Will Smith, Shohei Ohtani, and Freddie Freeman. Chad Jennings of The Athletic online talked about the main players and how they contributed to the win, and had this to say about it. Jennings said, “On the mound at the end was Yoshinobu Yamamoto, pitching on zero days’ rest after starting Game 6. The winning blow came from catcher Will Smith, a homegrown Dodgers superstar, who hit a go-ahead home run in the 11th.” These two players have been huge impacts for the team, and without them, it would be a completely different story. Jennings continued saying, “No. 9 hitter Miguel Rojas, who was not even in the lineup for the first five games of this series, hit a game-tying home run with one out in the ninth. The game ended with a double play, Mookie Betts to Freddie Freeman, two of the cornerstones of a team that has now won three of the past six World Series.” The Blue Jays would not go down without a fight, and it was easy to see. Jennings said, “It was not the easy victory many predicted seven months ago, or even a week ago. The Dodgers had to fight for it. They had to earn it. They were pushed to the brink and came out with a ring.” (Jennings, 2025)
Obviously, the Dodgers won, but what led up to the victory? Game three went into 18 innings, and Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off home run to end the game. According to Anthony Castrovince from MLB.com, “It was an affair that lasted 6 hours, 39 minutes, and it tied another Game 3 at Dodger Stadium – the Dodgers’ 3-2 win over the Red Sox in 2018 – for the longest, by innings, in Fall Classic history.” Dodgers’ pitcher, Tyler Glasnow, was huge on the mound with eight strikeouts and allowed only one run. Shohei Ohtani went 4 for 4 with two home runs and three RBIs. These Dodgers were all leading players and were a huge help to the Los Angeles Dodgers all season. (Castrovince, 2025)
As the final pitch echoed and the champions celebrated, the 2025 World Series reminded us why baseball captures the hearts of fans year after year. From stunning plays to unforgettable moments, this season showcased the skill, passion, and resilience that define the sport. While one team takes the trophy, every player, coach, and fan carries memories that will last a lifetime. The spirit of the game lives on, inspiring the next season and the next generation of fans. The real question is, who do you hope will be the next World Series Champions?
