JV Baseball Double Header
Last Saturday the Lewis Cass JV baseball team had a double header against Hamilton Heights at Galveston. Losing the first game, but winning the second, the Kings finished 500 for the day. 500 wasn’t what the Kings were looking for, but they still found positives throughout the day.
The Kings started off playing well the first game. The score was 4-0 going into the fifth inning, but Heights started to hit the ball and put up 3 runs in the top of the fifth. The Kings finally got the third out and were up to bat. They failed to score any more runs and they were back on the field quickly. This time Heights was hitting the ball even better and started to make a run. They put up 8 runs in the sixth inning to take the lead, which made the score 4-11. The King’s defense fell apart and the Huskies were hitting the ball hard and in the gaps. The Kings finally got the last out and got a chance to get back the runs they had given up, but they could not seem to get anything going. They held the Huskies the seventh inning and had one last chance to comeback, but they failed. The final score of the game was 4-11, a loss for the Kings.
The second game, however, was a lot better for the Kings. They defeated Hamilton Heights with a final score of 11-7. The Kings started off the game well, just like they had the first game. They held the Huskies to 0 their first at bat and then batted through their line-up. They put up 6 runs in the first inning against the Huskies. The rest of the game was back in forth pretty steady. Heights would score a run or two and then Cass would score a run or two. The Kings were able to hold off the Huskies this time and hold on to their lead.
Overall the Kings did well throughout the day. They hit the ball well and fielded the ball decent, all accept for that one inning in the first game. Although they lost the first game, The Kings still found some positives. They hit the ball pretty well and won their second game.
