Is Universal Health Care Necessary?

Democrats passed a bill in 2008, a bill that would have a long lasting effect, a bill that would shut our government down in 2013. What is this bill? The majority of Americans are calling it Obama Care, but its title, The Affordable Care Act, has 20,000 pages of bureaucracy. The bill creating controversy from California to our representatives in Washington D.C. is a false advertisement for what you would call affordable health care along with an unconstitutional right.

All classes of Americans pay taxes, and will now have health care, but the question asked is who is really paying for that health care? Under the rules and somewhere in the 20,000 pages of The Affordable Care Act it states that every American shall have health care, but with a price. Everyone pays for their own health care with this new law- but it’s supposed to be The Affordable Care Act. In the State of Michigan, for example, a family of four can have health care with only paying eighty dollars a month, but what Democrats don’t want you to know is that they would have to pay a $5000 deductible as well. This proves this Affordable Care Act is not so affordable.

When the constitution was written in 1776, freedom was in mind. With this new law taking affect, it states in its 20,000 pages that if you so choose not to partake in this new health care system you will be fined. Americans for the last 250 years have chosen whether or not to have health care, but now you will no longer have that freedom to choose. All Americans should ask on that statement, why is this law not being held as unconstitutional?

The government is in turmoil and it is officially shutdown indefinitely. Our government shut down in result of the Affordable Care Act. It is congress’ job to regulate the spending of money and they must pass laws to spend money. Congress has chosen to shut down the government because neither side can come up with a budget that would include the use of medical devices. What does that mean?

This means that our parks, government run museums, like the Smithsonian, Veterans affairs, and all other government run programs will be shut down. There are some exceptions, including: police departments, air traffic controllers, border patrol agents, congress, and the minority of IRS workers will still be at work. For now, these offices will remain open unless this is a lengthy shutdown to where those offices will run out of money to pay their employees. Eight hundred thousand government employees are out of work and 1 million are working without pay and counting.

How can we revise The Affordable Care Act to make it not as controversial to the majority of Americans? Make the law an option to citizens instead of forcing it upon them. Perhaps, if congress would have compromised and focused more on this bill instead of on themselves we would not be in this situation. Americans need to open their eyes and stand up for what they believe is right because the majority of us know that The Affordable Care Act needs major revising.
