The Heat Review

Over this past weekend I watched the movie The Heat.  This has to be probably the funniest movie of the year, making me laugh hysterically the whole two hours! If you love comedies The Heat is a must see. Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock are the main characters. They have both played in some pretty funny movies, but when the producers put the two of them together just made it even better! Although The Heat was a great movie, it had a ton of foul language. Which makes it not the most family friendly movie, but if you want a great laugh and don’t mind the cuss words, then it’s the right movie.

The Heat is about a goody good FBI agent, Sarah Ashburn, who does everything by the book, doesn’t cuss, dresses very professionally, thinks she knows everything, and doesn’t like to do things that aren’t professional. The whole movie she is trying to get a promotion. Then there is a cop, Shannon Mullins, who doesn’t follow anything by the book, cusses a lot, and doesn’t even wear a uniform. They accomplish their work in two different ways, so when they try to work to address a criminal in a way that is by the book and the other in a way that actually works. For instance, when Melissa is going after a criminal in the beginning, she chases him with her car, hits him, then gets out of her car, chases him down the road, and throws a watermelon at him to stop him. When Sarah tries to stop one of her criminals she shows her badge, they run, she tries to chase them, but they get away. By the end of the movie, Sarah isn’t such a goody good anymore; she has picked up on some of Shannon’s techniques.

My favorite scene is when Sandra shows up and first steals Shannon’s parking spot so she is half an hour late. Then she had to climb out her window in through another cop car’s window and gets out on the other side. When Shannon came in to interrogate her “perp” he was gone. Sarah had already come to take him into the interrogation room. That made Shannon angry! She threatened to beat up Sarah and started to. They got taken out by the boss and Shannon made fun of him the whole time. It was so funny!

I highly recommend everyone to watch The Heat! It is a definite must see! The funniest movie I’ve seen in a long time. It will give a good laugh for almost the whole two hours that it plays. All of the comedy makes up for the foul language!
