Delphi Murders Update

Delphi Murders Update

As many people throughout the U.S. have heard or know about the two girls murdered in Delphi Indiana, there is finally updates on the case. Abigail Williams, and Liberty German were murdered on February 17, 2017. Their bodies were discovered by the Monon High Bridge Trail. After the five and a half year search for their murderer the search is hopefully over.

Investigators arrested Richard M. Allen on November 28, 2022. The police searched his back yard on Wednesday a couple weeks ago. Allen was charged with two counts of murder, but is still being investigated. Investigators are trying to figure out if there was more than one person involved and have questioned many people throughout the years.

First let’s talk about the day the girls went missing. Abby and Libby went on a hike on the Monan trail on February 13 as we already knew. They were walking on the bridge and passed a man who said “ guys down the hill ”. Not much is known what the girls did after that. The girls were supposed to meet one of their relatives at a specific time to pick them up from the trail, but they never showed up. The police were notified of the missing girls at 5:30 pm. Search parties were formed and the community searched for the girls. The county sheriff told the news station that it wasn’t believed the girls were in imminent danger at the time but continued to search. The next day at 12:15 pm the girl’s bodies were found about half a mile upstream from the bridge. Now that the girls had been found it was time to find who did it. Officers received around 18,000 tips just four months after their deaths. During the investigation Indiana police discovered an account named Anthony_shots that was used to target under-aged girls. The man that ran the account was a twenty- eight year old man that was arrested and charged. It has not yet been discovered if he is related to the murders.

Finally let’s talk about how he was living in Delphi the whole entire search, and supposedly helped look for the girls. While people gathered to search for the girls it is said that Allen had gathered to help also. He also worked at the local CVS and helped Liberty’s aunt, Tara German, print pictures out for the funeral. He then said “ I’m not going to charge you for these.”  It is unbelievable that he thought to stay in the county and help search for the girls. I hope the girls and their families finally get the justice they deserve.
