The school should provide us with more time during our lunch period. This is a very controversial topic within students and staff at the school. Thirty minutes sounds like a convenient amount of time to eat, but it’s not when you include all the factors.
For example, to get from your classroom to the lunchroom takes quite a bit of time, especially if you also walk to your locker when the bell rings for lunch to put away your supplies from class. Also, the line to get lunch can get pretty long, and sometimes you have to wait there for up to 20 minutes or more. Another factor that affects the lunch time is that there are more kids at a time in the cafeteria this year so the line is even longer than last year. This causes the line to take longer. This is an example of why students should get a longer lunch.
Another example is after everyone gets done in the line, the lunch staff starts dismissing the students. That gives the students who were last in line no time to eat because you have about 5 minutes after that until you have to get out of the lunch room. This gives the students who were last in line about 5 minutes to eat. Then, the students barely get to eat any food that will have to last them until the end of the day. This is another example of why students should get a longer lunch.
We went around and interviewed the head of the lunches, Lisa Adams, about her opinion and this is what she said, “ If I had a choice, I would like to go back to four lunch periods. It would spread out all the kids, I think you would feel like you had more time.” We also interviewed a few students and this is what they said. I asked Issac Williams, a 7th grader here and this is what he said, “Whenever I’m the last one at lunch, I always get no time to eat.“ I also asked Elizabeth Brettin, also a seventh grader, and this is what she said, “The school took away D lunch, which causes the lines to be longer which makes no time to eat.” This is what some students at our school think about having a longer lunch.
As you can see, having a shorter lunch causes many problems with the lunch time. These are just some of the many reasons why us students should have a longer lunch time period. The school can solve this problem by bringing back D lunch, which helps make the lunch longer because there are less kids and that makes the line shorter. Thus, giving students more time at lunch. In conclusion, giving students longer lunch, or bringing back D lunch will help us a lot, by providing us more time to eat. This is why I think students should have more lunch time.
