The new seventh grade math teacher, Mr. Green has impacted the entire seventh grade. Mr. Green just started his first year of teaching at Lewis Cass. He is originally from a small town called Oregonia, Ohio. He attended Taylor University and played football for four years there. Mr. Green also coached the seventh grade football team this year, and the boys had a very good season.
We have interviewed Mr. Green and this is how it went.
(Us) “Why did you choose to come to Lewis Cass?
(Mr.: Green) “I moved to this area because this is where my wife is from and I wanted to be a middle school math teacher and they had an opening and I’ve heard wonderful things about Lewis Cass.”
(Us) “Why seventh grade?”
(Mr. Green)“I wanted to teach middle school and only 7th grade had an opening.”
(Us) “How has the seventh grade affected you?”
(Mr. Green)“It surprised me because of the such wide range of interactions with students inside the classroom and outside the classroom.”
(Us) “ Do you enjoy teaching seventh grade math?”
(Mr. Green) “I enjoy teaching it overall, but there are frustrating moments.”
(Us) “What was it like being a coach of the kids you had just met for the first time in the classroom?
(Mr. Green) “I would say I really enjoyed because it helped me get to know you outside of the classroom and I got to see you guys for 2 extra hours,”
(Us) “What position did you play in football?”
Mr. Green: “I played mostly defensive end but they moved me around a lot so I played all the defensive positions.”
(Us) “Was college better than teaching?
Mr. Green: “I would say it’s different. It had its pros and cons but I enjoyed college better than high school because I felt freer, but I don’t know if I like college or adult life better because I did not have as much responsibility and it helped me further down the road.”
(Us)“What do you think it will be like with the baby?”
(Mr. Green) “I will probably be more tired and I hope people understand that.”
(Us) “Do you have a name for the baby?”
(Mr. Green) “I cannot tell that right now.”
Mr. Green is a very interesting person who has positively impacted the faculty and students of Lewis Cass. The student body is very happy and thankful to have a teacher like Mr. Green. Hopefully he will continue to teach at Lewis Cass for years to come.
