Sports are a big deal, especially if you are a king. The sports that are going on in the winter are as followed basketball, swimming/diving, wrestling, and we all love the cheerleaders. Though people debate if cheerleading is a real sport, imagine your game/meet with no cheerleaders and no spirit (That sounds so boring) so be grateful for the cheerleaders cheering you on throughout your season.
The swimming and diving team is starting in January and the Junior high cheer team has been practicing since around april. The first game the cheerleaders are going to cheer at for basketball is going to be December 5th against Eastern Middle School. The middle school boys basketball team played the Peru Tigers, in the Tiger’s den at 6:30pm on November 20th (although they lost, they put up a good fight).
The girls basketball team is having open gyms right now to come and practice before the season starts. The 7th grade girls basketball team is coached by Paxton Hicks and the 8th grade girls basketball team is coached by Hope Chambers. If you have nothing to do during the spring time then you should try a spring sport. These include track, golf, and softball/baseball.
Lewis Cass sports are such a fun activity to do. Doing sports can improve many things such as mental health and physical health. If you have nothing to do you should definitely consider doing a sport. The boys wrestling team has their first meet on January 31st at 6pm at western middle school. The wrestling coach is Mr. McDonald. Make sure if you play any sports to have your physical printed out and turned into the athletic office.
Even though fall sports are over, the girls on the volleyball team say they made great memories and had lots of fun with their coach Taylor Rodabaugh. Sports are very fun so we hope you can join some! The Lewis Cass sports are doing great in the 2024-2025 season, so we can’t wait to see all of the rest of the sports succeed throughout the year. Go Kings!
