You know that feeling when the second semester of the school year hits and it is almost over? Everyone is ready to leave, and students begin counting down the days until spring break. Well, many Lewis Cass students are doing that right now. Spring break is a good time for everyone to relax and get a break from school, whether it is a staycation or vacation. At Lewis Cass the first day of spring break is March 24, 2025.
Maddy Willis, a sophomore, talked about where she was going for spring break, and what she was doing. Maddy is going to Negril, Jamaica and is most excited about spending the week on the beach and getting to relax. She is happy to forget about all the stress that comes with school and being a teenager. When asked what she is doing on her trip, Willis said, “We have not fully decided what we want to do every single day, but we are definitely intending on doing some snorkeling, cliff jumping, and other fun activities, but we also want to spend chill days on the beach!” Maddy and her family are going to Jamaica with me and my family.
Secondly, Maisa Tatti, a senior exchange student from Finland at Lewis Cass, gave insight on her spring break plans. Maisa is going to New York, and Jamaica for spring break. She has never been to either of these places. When asked what she was doing in New York, Tatti said, “I am going to Times Square, Ktown, The Edge, Central Park, a drag show, Chinatown, Little Italy, 9/11 Memorial, and a boat ride. I am very excited to go visit all these places and hang out with my host sister!” Tatti is elated to go to New York, as she has always wanted to go. Maisa is traveling to New York with sophomore Alana Fagan, and we are staying with my aunt who lives in Brooklyn. Maisa is going to Jamaica with her host family, and Maddy’s family. Maisa is also excited for Jamaica so she can be in the tropical sun, and spend days on the beach to get away from the cold weather. She even has a countdown for both trips! Maisa is leaving for New York March 20, and she is going to Jamaica March 26.
Next, Brookelynn Biddle, a sophomore, shared about her spring break plans. Brookelynn is going on a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico. Biddle has been on one other cruise before. She is visiting with her mom, stepdad, and fellow sophomore, Alyiah Reynoso. She is most excited to get tan and meet new people.
Also, Bekah Birkey, a sophomore, shared about her spring break staycation plans. Birkey plans to spend time with her family and friends. She loves spring break because it is a very stressful time for her in the year, and for her, spring break is very relaxing. Bekah stated, “ My family and I usually do one or two day trips in Indiana, such as the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, or even staying at a hotel so we can swim at the pool. I am very excited for spring break because I will get to spend a lot more time with my niece.”
Lastly, Lewis Cass students are traveling to many fun, adventurous places for spring break. Whether it is spending time with friends, family, or just taking a break, it is a nice break to be able to relax.
