Mississinewa STEM Field Trip

What does STEM stands for? Well your about to find out! STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. People use STEM in their everyday lives. People see STEM in everyday careers, and at their local schools. STEM can be challenging to some people.

The eighth grade class went on a field trip to Mississinawa to discover STEM. Students canoed to see how people traveled places. We also hiked to see how they got food, and how they got items to survive. They got things like medicine from plants. We also learned what people traded furs for like beavers and otters. We also played a fun game called disc-golf. How to play- you will need a frisbee, a goal, and friends. Then just toss the frisbee in a goal. Play this game just like a game of golf. The person with the lowest amount of throws wins!

If anyone ever wants to learn about STEM then do what the 8th grade class did and go to Mississinewa lake (with permission) and learn about it. It isn’t that hard, and people might even be able to canoe in the lake.

Fire can be easy and difficult at the same time. First, get need to get the correct ingredients. It takes wood, matches, newspaper (or any type of paper), and something to make the fire in like an aluminum can. If anyone puts a fire out a person can either smother it or  could pour water on it. Don’t use water if it is an electrical fire because that will make the fire worse and it could explode.

We would not recommend going into the woods alone. So, if you ever go exploring in the woods ,and you’ve never been in by yourself, always take a guide.
