The Bobsled

The bobsled is a type of transportation used in the Winter Olympics. The bobsled can hold about 2 or 4 men or women. Bobsleds can reach high speeds on an icy racetrack. At the beginning of the race, the riders have to run and push it before getting inside as so in the picture provided above. This only the modern day bobsled.

The Swiss invented the bobsled for wealthy tourists to enjoy. They attached two skeleton sleds together, made a steering mechanism, and made some safety improvements. The bobsled went from being made out of wood and slow to metal and fast. Even though there have been many improvements already made to today’s bobsled, there can still be many more.

If I were to make some improvements to the bobsled I would make it more aerodynamic by changing quite a bit of things. By this I mean making it longer, make the back ends higher, and make the “ski” parts longer. Why would I make these improvements? Well the more aerodynamic something is, the faster it can go. Would you want to train and be a part of this olympic race?
