Elevator

Elevator

Elevators, also called lifts, are cars that move in a vertical shaft to carry passengers or freight between the levels of a multistory building. Schuyler Wheeler patented his electric elevator design in 1883. In 1887, American Inventor Alexander Miles of Duluth, Minnesota patented an elevator with automatic doors that would close off the elevator shaft. The first elevator in India was installed at the Raj Bhavan in Calcutta by Otis in 1892. The inventor of the elevator was named Elisha Graves Otis. Otis Elevators, now owned by Elisha Otis’ sons, installed the first control system that automatically controlled the varying speed of elevators in 1924. The system automatically controlled the acceleration, speed between floors, and deceleration as the elevator came to a stop, according to Otis WorldWide. One improvement I would make is to add seats so people who might be pregnant or are older can sit instead of stand.
