In this soft news feature,”Lewis Cass’ Indoor Winds Band Excels With State Meet Looming,” by Kristi Hileman of the Pharos Tribune, the author uses a mix of pathos and ethos to describe how the indoor band at Lewis Cass band is preparing for state finals. The author starts off by saying that the 38 member band is ready to bring home another first place win at this Saturday’s competition. She continues by stating that there is an uptake of bands competing this year since the fall season had been cancelled. She also states that indoor winds is different from marching band because instead of being far away, performers can see the spectators as the event is on a much smaller scale than regular marching band. The author finishes up the article by stating that the season is coming to a close as the band only has three more shows left in the season, as well as a community performance on March 11th at 7 P.M. in the large gym at Lewis Cass. As a member of the marching band, this article is bittersweet for me. This is my last season of competing and I really hope to bring home my fourth state ring. I know many of the seniors are working hard to get the chance to finish out the season as both of our 2020 seasons got cancelled. Be sure to support the band and come see our community performance!
