Outer Banks Review

Outer Banks Review

By now most people have watched or at least heard of the show Outer Banks, also known as Obx. This Netflix series first premiered on April 15, 2020. It was renewed for a second season in December 2021, and has once again been renewed for season three, which is set to come out on February 23rd. This series is set in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In the show you follow two groups of teenagers, the pogues and the kooks. The pogues are known to be the less fortunate kids who can’t afford as much. On the other hand the kooks are kids who are rich and have been handed most of the things they have gotten in life.

In the first season, you follow the pogues friend group. In this group you have John B, JJ, Kiara, and Pope. One day they were out on the water after a hurricane had occurred, and they found a sunken ship. They dive into the boat and find items that will lead them on a treasure hunt. They don’t tell anyone else about it so they can keep the treasure to themselves. They soon find out that what they are looking for was on a ship that got lost at sea with millions of dollars worth of gold on it. However they find a picture that proves that someone had taken the gold off the ship and it was now missing. John B teams up with one of the kooks, Sarah, because she can help them by getting into nice places that the pogues can’t get into. However, Sarah’s dad finds out what they are searching for and wants the gold for himself instead. The rest of the season is a race to see who can get the gold first. This season ends with a cliffhanger as Sarah’s dad steals the gold and John B and Sarah get lost in a storm trying to stop them.

Season two continues the quest to get the gold back. After the storm, John B and Sarah get to the Bahamas on a boat where they think the gold is stored. They had to escape the boat that they were on because the drivers wanted to turn them into the police. They go to a hotel to try to find a phone to text their friends where they are and that they are okay. John B goes to the house where the gold is stored and they start working on a way to take it back. Back at home Kiara, Pope and JJ are working on a way to help clear John B’s name from the police. Sarah’s dad has taken the gold and stored it on a boat. So once all the pogues get back together they all get onto this boat to steal it back. It doesn’t work in their favor and they all have to escape the boat on a smaller one. They get stuck on an island with nothing, and no way of getting back home. This season ends with them trying to find out how to survive on this island alone.

Overall I think Obx is a great show for anyone to watch. I would rate it a 4.5 out of 5. It has elements of romance, drama, and mystery in it. It’s a great time to start watching if you have not because the next season is coming out soon.
