In Libya, there was a massive flood recently. The flood was nobody’s fault no matter what people wish to say. Our sympathy goes out to the people of Libya as they go through this difficult time.
The floods in Libya were caused by a Mediterranean Hurricane. The Mediterranean Hurricane was caused by heavy rainfall, and the failure of two dams leading to the floods in Libya. The two dams were located upstream from Derna where the flood was recorded to be. The two dams were not very big to begin with which led to their downfall. The water that broke the two dams was heading straight for the ocean leaving Libya in ruins. That is what caused the flooding in Libya.
The flooding of Libya was located in Derna. Derna was a port city located on the Northeastern side of Libya. Scientists have been warning the city of Derna about the hazard of flooding for over 20 years. Despite all of the warnings they continued ignoring them. Which eventually led to the floods. That is where the flood was located in Libya.
The death toll in Libya as of September seventeenth is said to be eleven thousand three hundred people. This is not including the number of missing people. It is also said that even a week later they are continuing to recover bodies. This event has left many people sad and overwhelmed due to the fact that they may have lost friends, family or other important things. That is said to be the correct toll for the lost people of Libya.
The floods in Libya were predicted for many years. The people of Libya should have listened to the warnings yet they did not. So, precautions should be taken from now on for cities like Derna. Hopefully there won’t be any more natural disasters like this one.
