If you haven’t heard, Sephora is a popular makeup store where girls and boys go to get makeup, makeup tools, perfume, and many more. Something, though, gets a little out of hand and I’m talking about the testers. Kids (mostly in the 10 year old range) go and destroy the testers. This is extremely bad for the stores and employees because they have to throw them out and it also takes away a lot of money. The kids also tend to steal many of the products.
This is bad for the environment because most makeup and skincare containers are made up of plastic or non-biodegradable packaging. That really hurts the environment. Also when the kids waste the products that can cost lots of money. Children have also been stealing the products by taking them out of the packaging and hiding them. Sephora workers have been finding many empty boxes recently.
This is also very bad for the economy because when they waste all the products money goes down the drain. Sephora needs to be a little bit more smart and not put out expensive products as testers or they should have someone to monitor the people using the testers. Testers also contain lots of bacteria after many people have used it, which when they find the bacteria they have to throw it away. This is another reason why Sephora is losing money. The store can not go on if they are constantly losing money.
Back to the ten year olds, dermatologists are concerned with young children buying products that could ruin their skin. “When I read about 10- to 12-year-olds taking over Sephora I have many thoughts,” says Vienna, VA dermatologist Brenda Dintiman, MD. This could be very bad for their future skin. This is why we need to start setting limits.
In conclusion, Sephora testers are bad for the environment, bad for the economy, and bad for people’s skin. These kids are ruining Sephora and possibly other stores as you’re reading this.
