The Lewis Cass Lady Kings swim team dove straight into their season by making a great first impression on their competition. The county meet was a three-way meet with the schools, Cass, Pioneer, and Logansport. The swim team won the meet, which so happens to be the annual Cass County meet at Logansport. As the nerves grew higher, the team’s excitement quickened as they stepped onto the blocks, getting ready to crush the competition.
Girls’ swim head Coach Mandy Hall explained how she thought the swimmers and divers performed at the County meet. Hall said, “I think all of the girls swam hard and dove confidently. With county being the very first meet of the season, a few girls were slightly nervous and really concerned about what their times would be like. I think for the very first meet, they performed well, and we are excited to watch times drop throughout the season.” Overall, the Lady Kings’ swim team did very well, winning the County with a score of Cass 55, Logansport 34, and Pioneer 13.
The swim team did very well, bringing home first place in many events. The relay winners were Mia Hall, Madelyn Hillis, Mayce Armstrong, and Kenneday McLaughlin. Another relay winner is Mia Hall, Kennedy McLaughlin, Mayce Armstrong, and Reille Musgrave. For the 200 Individual Medley, Mia Hall placed first. The 100 butterfly champion was Mayce Armstrong, and the 100 freestyle was Madelyn Hillis. Mia Hall won another race, the 100 breaststroke. Varsity diving winner was Maleigh Deeter, and junior varsity diving winner was Braylin Adams. Overall, the girls’ team did very well. Mia Hall was the only swimmer who won all the events she swam. All of the swimmers and divers did excellent swimming in the first meet of the season.
So far early in the season, the girls’ swim team has had three more meets and has won all of them by over 100 points, remaining undefeated. The Lady Kings’ meets have been away at Carroll and home against Rochester and Wabash. The team hopes to win many more meets and crush the incoming competition. The swimmers and divers hope to continue to improve from here in the upcoming meets.
For Senior, Kennedy McLaughlin, the Cass Country meet was her last first swim meet, and she said, “It is weird to think that I have already had my last first meet. This season is going by so fast, and it is hard to believe that soon I will be done with swimming entirely.” McLaughlin made a huge impact on those around her.
In conclusion, the Lewis Cass Swim girls’ team is not only a team, but a family. This season has started tremendously, and the Lady Kings’ bonds will continue to grow, and the team will continue to grow stronger. The team is excited to see what the future holds in and out of the pool. Come support the Lady Kings at their next meet at home against Western on Monday, December 15, 2025. Go Kings!
