This time of the school year is the most boring and depressing part; there are no breaks or fun events to look forward to. It is just a straight repetitive motion every day. We can only wish that the school year would come to an end quickly. With a boring, repeated cycle such as this, how could anyone have fun? Well, you can turn that frown upside down as Lewis Cass High School students share their opinions and give some advice on ways to cure their boredom.
Senior, Harrison Clark, shared that he is easily entertained by watching food challenges on YouTube, and once in a while playing the video game Fall Guys. The video game Fall Guys is a chaotic, obstacle-filled game that is easy to play for new and advanced players. Harrison also listens to Yacht Rock music (which is a smooth, sophisticated soft rock genre from the late 1970s and early 1980s) in his free time. When asked what activities he enjoys doing with friends, Harrison responded, “I enjoy playing Catan with my friends or playing golf.” Catan is a three to four-player board game that features trading and negotiation.
Junior, Oscar Villamar-Anaya is part of the high school boys track team and enjoys exercise. When asked what activities or hobbies Oscar would suggest people try out, he replied, “I would recommend running or lifting weights.” To cure his boredom, he enjoys participating in outside activities rather than staying inside.
Sophomore, Hope Rush likes to hang out with her friends when she is bored. Although she can not go anywhere she wants because of her lack of a driver’s license. Having a driver’s license allows people the freedom to adventure out and go to places with friends or family. Although not all high school students have this opportunity, as they are too young to earn their license. Hope currently has a permit. Once Hope gets her license, she looks forward to going places with her friends. She plans to drive her friends around town when she is allowed to have people in her car while driving.
Freshman, Anna Roeske, also does not have a driver’s license due to her young age, so a productive activity she has done out of boredom was clean her room excessively for hours.
To cure my boredom, personally, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family or doing activities on my own. In my free time, I enjoy watching shows or movies. I am currently rewatching Teen Wolf, a show about high schoolers surviving in the supernatural world, but recently, I have watched one of the Kingsman movies, which is about a top-secret British agency completing missions with action and humor. I also enjoy some arts and crafts with my siblings and cousins, such as making slime or painting on glass. Another productive hobby I like is exercising either by myself or with friends. I also spend time with my friends by going to the movies, trying new food spots, and playing pickleball.
There are many great ways to have fun, even in the most boring part of the school year. Give some of these activities suggested by your fellow classmates at Lewis Cass a try to cure your boredom.
