Right now, the world is a frightening place. A few things happening right now include the ICE protests in Minneapolis and the war with Iran (Epworth Free Methodist Church, 2026). It can seem like control of the world is slipping through the fingers of many people. It can be hard to continue to trust in the Lord, but it is important to trust; otherwise, some can lose faith.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
Faith is a difficult thing to hold on to. Right now, the events of the world, such as the protests and the war in Iran, can pull people away from faith. Some people may be scared of violence in the world, or are scared of the decisions of the government at this time. While being uncertain is okay, many tend to hide from fear instead of seeking the Lord (Compassion International, 2026). It is so important to remember the Lord is always here for everyone. He knows everything is happening in the world today, even when it feels like He is not. According to Compassion International from Christian Family, “If you are a Christian, you know that, ultimately, God is in charge and there is nothing to fear.” It is important for Christians to remind themselves that God is in control, even when it feels like He is not even there. People tend to forget about God when their lives are good. They forget to pray and thank God for the good things that He has done for them. We need to remember that God is in control and not our government (Lisa Rowell, 2026).
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
Instead of running away or sheltering from God when a person’s anxiety is on the rise, run toward God and pray to Him for peace. In today’s current culture, because of the war in Iran, it can be easy to feel anxious about the political climate of the world. While some place their trust in the arms of political leaders, Christians should keep their trust in Jesus. According to Lisa Rowell from Family Christian, “The Lord doesn’t need a daily reminder of who He is, but it sure helps us to keep our lives and circumstances and the cycles of worldly (and political) conflict and suffering in perspective. We can rest secure when we trust His sovereignty daily.” Jesus does not need followers to remind Him of who He is. In scripture, Jesus talks about how He and the Father are one. This shows that Jesus was aware of who He was and what He was sent here to do.
Right now is an important time to trust faith in the Lord because we do not know where the world is going. Christians can get caught up in the media and the people of the world when we should be listening to the truth of the Lord.
