It is Monday morning, the alarm goes off, and most do not want to wake up. Sighing groggily, while getting ready for school, work, etc., many are faced with the Monday blues. But then they remember…wait, it is Monday. Know what that means? The new Crumbl Menu! That is right, although this is statistically the worst day of the week, it still brings a small sense of excitement. This new lineup opens up a world of possibilities and expectations for these future treats. Will the treats meet these expectations, or will they fall short of your sweet tooth?
Living in a small, rural town, there are not many activities to participate in locally. Bored teenagers have to venture 30 minutes to an hour to make it out to the more entertaining parts of Indiana (places that include more than just a Walmart or a McDonald’s). For example, Lafayette is home to several potential excursions, one being a trip to Crumbl. That is exactly what we did this Presidents’ Day.
After a brief, music-filled, one-hour drive, the gang arrived at our destination. The glorious pink hue of the Crumbl sign shown upon our faces, bringing us (one of us…Raegan!) to tears. As we opened the door of the building, our noses were kindly greeted with the magnificent aroma of Crumbl’s carefully crafted confections.
If you are unfamiliar with the way Crumbl functions, each week, a new lineup of cookies is introduced, which usually includes six varying flavors from the week prior. As of recently, Crumbl decided to introduce a permanent menu: a group of cookies that will recur every week. Crumbl calls this The Classics Menu. This group includes Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunk, Pink Sugar Cookie, Chocolate Crumb Cookie featuring Oreo, Snickerdoodle, Brownie Batter, and Celebration. Along with the permanent menu, Crumbl offers four flavors that change each week. This week, they were the Buckeye Brownie Cookie, Raspberry Cheesecake, and Biscoff Skillet Cookie featuring Biscoff and S’mores. After being faced with such a marvelous selection and a lot of consideration, we made the extremely tough decision to just buy and try them all!
In short, this was the best decision of our lives. First, our crew indulged in The Classics Menu. We were pleasantly surprised by the breathtaking taste of the Brownie Batter, Oreo, and Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunk cookies. Fellow Cass eighth grader, Baylie Mundy stated that the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunk cookie was her favorite because “it’s like the perfect mixture of sweet and salty.” Could not have said it better ourselves.
All cookies are meeting their hype and expectations. Crumbl gave us what we wanted them to give and left no crumbs aside. But this sweet moment had a bitter aftertaste. We then tried the classic Pink Sugar cookie, which we have all tried before. However, this was not the Pink Sugar we remembered. The texture and flavor were completely different, and it was almost hard to swallow for some of us. It definitely stays true to the name Pink Sugar because that is really all that it tasted like. On the topic of overly sweet desserts, we could feel the cavities forming in our mouths after taking a bite of the Celebration Cake cookie. Though it had a nice flavor and texture, the overpowering sweetness and richness left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Finally, we ate the Snickerdoodle. A common classic in the cookie world, and that is exactly what it was, common, nothing spectacular or showstopping, nothing we would bring to a potluck either. So, if you plan to try out The Classics Menu, do yourself and your wallet a favor and skip those three cookies.
Now it was time for the rotating flavors. We were just as eager to try these as the rest. Beginning with the Skillet Cookie featuring Biscoff. As fellow Biscoff and cookie butter connoisseurs, our bars were set high. And Crumbl met the bar. Though we wished there could have been more Biscoff flavor, what Crumbl delivered was satisfactory. Next up was another classic dessert Crumbl took its spin on, the S’mores cookie. This cookie filled the sun and cookout-deprived void we have all been feeling since September. It had all the staple elements of a s’more while also delivering good-quality cookie content. Dare we say a 10/10…. Then, we decided to switch up our style of sweetness and indulge in the Raspberry Cheesecake. Not to be confused with the Raspberry Cheesecake Cookie, this was just a plain and simple cheesecake. Crumbl would consider this as a part of their “Crumbl Desserts” line. But, no matter what you classify it as, it was definitely one thing. Delicious. Finally, it was time for the last cookie, the Buckeye Brownie. What they say is true: you save the best for last. We do not even think “best” is a word worthy of describing this cookie. It was hands down one of, if not THE best, Crumbl cookies we have all tasted. It was the creme de la creme of Crumbl.
So, does this week’s Crumbl lineup cure the Monday blues? In our case, without a doubt. This week’s menu proved that a one-hour drive and two pink boxes of sugar can turn an ordinary Monday into an extraordinary Monday. Did every cookie leave us speechless? Not exactly, but the few that fell short did not ruin the experience. So, while Mondays may statistically be the worst day of the week, maybe all they are missing is a little sweetness. And if that sweetness happens to come in the form of a Buckeye Brownie cookie from Crumbl, you will not hear any complaints from us.
