STEM Recycled Boats
So we have a project in STEM and we are building a boat from recyclable objects. Our groups are made up of four people. We can bring stuff from home to help build our boats. This includes things like plastic bottles, milk jugs, cardboard, and other recyclables. We also can use tape to hold our boats together. For this project, we aren’t allowed to use spray paint or anything that could pollute the pool. Our goal is to make a boat that is big enough to hold a person or two, but they also have to remember that it has to be light so that it can float. We also have to make sure there isn’t any holes or anything that can let water through into the boat and make it sink. We can build oars or use our hands to paddle. We are going to race our boats in the pool against our classmates. The race is a relay down the length of the pool and back. Our size requirements for our boats is 4×4 feet. The winner of the boat race will get a trophy for building the best boat. The hardest part about the boat race will probably be the swap between the players.
