The STEM career that I chose is a meteorologist. A lot of people don’t know a lot about a  meteorologist. A meteorologist is a person that studies the weather and climate or are interested in the study of meteorology. Not many people would know what you were talking about if you said “Did you see what the meteorologist said about the forecast?” What if you said “Did you see what the weather person said about the forecast today?” Not many people even knew that a meteorologist was a real name or job. I’m going to tell you about a meteorologist etc.

A meteorologist is someone who studies the weather and the climate. You also might see them on TV telling us how are weeks weather is going to be like. They actually do a lot to help us out. Have you ever been watching the news and you saw this person outside when there’s a hurricane, tornado, or any kind of disaster and they have been reporting  how it looks like and showing us all the things that are going on? That’s a meteorologist. You might not know it but they do a lot of things to keep us safe/ well.

To become a meteorologist is not easy. You have to get a basic requirement for becoming a meteorologist or a climatologist is a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science. You also have to be able to know where places are and be ready to go on air whenever your needed. They might need you to report the weather at 3am because a tornado is on its way. It’s not the easiest job, you might think it’s a piece of cake and you wouldn’t mind doing it. But it is harder than it looks and really stressful. 

The salary as a meteorologist salary is not bad at all. The average salary for a meteorologist for a year is 92.460k and $44.44 per hour. That is a lot of money for someone who reports about the weather. It says meteorologist make so much money because they risk their lives to go report out in the storms sometimes.They do really care about us and not many people realize that and see how much they are risking their lives to make sure we are ok. They are on the news reporting most of the time or outside. 

This career relates to stem because it is the same thing as science and science is one of the stem careers. You have to get a science bachelor’s degree to become a meteorologist . Meteorologist are very good people. I don’t want to be one but I think it would be a very good job to work at. If you like helping people it might be right for you. If you don’t mind being on TV, then  the job is right for you. I hope after this article you see really how important meteorologist are to everyday life and are people.
