Station Wagon

Station+Wagon

In 1922, independent manufacturers who were making wooden custom bodies for the Ford Model T Chassis made a mistake. They decided to make a car out of it. They called them depot hacks/ station wagons. They called them depot hacks because they would work around train depots as hacks (short for hackney carriage). They would take the wealthy from the trains wherever they needed to go.

As the days went, during World War II, Chryslyer decided to make their own version of the station wagon. These station wagons were given to the Army. The Army started to call them Jeeps. Later in the years they stopped using the station wagons in the Military. They traded them in for lighter and smaller vehicles.

After their use in the military was needed no more they started production to put the station wagons back on the street. When they started to produce them again there were a few changes made from when they first made the station wagon. These changes included steal doors instead of wooden and the addition of doors. When the station wagon first came out there were no doors.

If I could change anything about the station wagon it would have to be how long it would  last. From the research I did I came across multiple articles talking about the car lasting less than 20 years. If I were to buy a car and it had been used I would like to know that it won’t break down as soon as I pull out of the driveway.
