If you have ever been to Peru, you have probably indulged in the restaurant Los Tres Caminos. It is a Mexican restaurant that promises to give you an authentic Mexican food experience, and they do not lie either! I have been there many times since I was young, and I have enjoyed their cuisine every time. Recently, a new location of the same brand has opened up in Galveston, which happens to be where I live, so I decided to take it upon myself as a Kings Courier writer to visit and tell you all if it is worth the hype.
The restaurant is located at 435 US 35, Galveston, Indiana, next to Tark’s Pizza and Speedway gas station. It opened on February 24, 2024, and was a very popular opening night, and has been consistently busy for the almost two weeks since its grand opening. The location is still new, so I have not been able to find reviews, but I was able to get in contact with Jimothy Myers IV, and he had this to say: “My family has always enjoyed the food at Peru’s Los Tres Caminos and were excited to hear they were opening one in Galveston. We placed a takeout order on their first Friday night. The food was ready in 20 minutes and its quality was outstanding. The restaurant was crowded but controlled. Parking was a bit of a challenge. The staff was very friendly and eager to help. We are glad they have moved into our community.”
With that being said, allow me to give my review of the food. According to the Los Tres menu, it is full of variety and is filled with many different and iconic Spanish cuisines, but they also offer more traditional foods, like hamburgers or chicken fingers. I love Mexican food, but all I got when I visited this establishment was some basic tacos, so I encourage you, reader, to visit and form your own thoughts. After getting a table, the staff starts you off with a basket of fresh and hot tortilla chips and some salsa, a staple of Mexican restaurants, but Los Tres is up there as one of the best, as the chips come to you hot and fresh, coated with just the perfect amount of salt, and some very delicious salsa. After, they bring you periodic refills if you or your party happen to run out, which is excellent customer service. They then take your drink, as with most restaurants, and I just ordered some ice water, so once more I cannot comment too well on their drinks, but no one at my table seemed to raise a complaint, so I assume there were no issues.
Finally, servers take your order, and as I said, I just ordered basic tacos, but I must say, reader, these tacos were exceptional. The ground beef was juicy and delicious to eat with some fresh lettuce, and what I would assume to be freshly grated cheese on top. It all combined to make one of the most delicious tacos I have ever consumed. My two other party members ordered the chicken fajita and enchilada respectively, and they also sang the praises of their dishes. Overall, I would say the Galveston location of Los Tres Caminos experience is a good one, and one I intend to have many times in the future!
