I’m sure all of you have heard of 4-H. However, do you know what activities you can participate in? There are activities such as animal showing, building competitions and pageants. These are a few of the many categories and activities you can participate in. 

One of the first things at the fair is the pageant. The pageant has 4 age groups: Little Miss, Junior Miss, Teen Miss, and Miss Cass County. Miss Cass county is a big deal. The judges of the pageant have a lot to think about when picking the winner. The winners of each age group get to help around the fair all week. The winners also get to help judge some of the animal classes.

In animal showing, there are goat, sheep, cattle, swine, horse, lama, poultry, and rabbit classes that you can enter in. Each one of these takes different skills and types of practice. Depending on what you are showing there is only a certain amount of animals you can sign up for in each class. You can earn ribbons, banners and even plaques depending on what places you are in. Another activity in animal showing is showmanship. 

You can participate in showmanship by expressing how much you know about your animal you are showing. There are many different categories in this activity. They consist of Junior, Intermediate, Senior, and Mastery. If you win the group you are in you then move up to the next level. Even if you don’t win you can still move up after you are in a certain grade. Overall showmanship is a fun way to show your knowledge of your animal.

There are also arts and crafts you can participate in to win ribbons. Once your certain project is done and submitted, all of them are displayed in the community building. Some activities you can do in the community are photography, cake decorating, painting, and sewing. There is also robotics, woodworking, metalworking, and many more hands-on activities. If you are creative and like making things, arts and crafts would be a good thing for you.

In conclusion there are many different activities you can do at the Cass County 4-H fair. The fair is filled with food, rides, animals, and fun! There are many reasons why you should do 4-H, these are just some popular activities.
