Spring is a time where many sports are played, some of these sports are soccer, baseball, tennis, and track. All of these sports are well known and played around the world. Therefore, we’ll be talking about a very famous one that is even in the Olympics. This sport has a variety of events, like running, hurdling, jumping, and many other things. The sport we’re going to be talking about is track. In this article we’ll be talking about what track is and why it’s so famous around the world.
Track events can vary, some events you run in, like the 100 or 200 meter race, but some are based on throwing and strength like shotput or discus. Running sports are some of the main events, and have the most events inside of going from 100 meter race all the way up to a 2400 meter race. Hurdles are also another thing people run in, like the 110 meter hurdle or the 410 meter hurdle. The last thing are the field events, these vary a lot. Since some are based on jumping and some are based on throwing. Just because you run in a race doesn’t mean that you can’t do a field event.
Track is a sport that involves many different types of people, since all of the events need different things, like strength, or speed. If you have a meet, it doesn’t mean you are playing just one school, some meets do have one other school but they may also have up to 5 or even more. Track is scored differently than most other sports, since normally it is one team vs. another, but track is you vs. everyone else. Getting first place in a meet gives your team 5 points, getting 2nd place gives your team 3 points, and getting 3rd place gives your team 1 point.
