Arby’s Restaurant recently introduced its new steak nuggets, promising a bold, protein-packed snack for fans of fast food and flame-grilled flavor. But after speaking with several Lewis Cass taste tasters, including freshman Dakoat Morton, King Underwood, and Aiden Wallace, it seems this new menu item may not live up to the hype.
The environment of the fast food chain was far from ideal, as this particular Arby’s was located in the back of a gas station in Logansport, which gave off a cramped and uninviting vibe from the moment we walked in. The dining area did not have many people, which was not surprising given the location. What truly caught me off guard was an unexpected moment when a man turned to me and said, “My wife bites pretty hard,” adding an odd twist to our already unusual visit, just another day at Arby’s, I guess. Despite the strange setting and bizarre encounter, the food service was surprisingly good; the employees were friendly, attentive, and helpful, making sure my order was correct and checking in to see how everything tasted. Their professionalism and welcoming attitude helped balance out the otherwise awkward atmosphere and made the experience more enjoyable than I initially expected.
I was expecting more from these since I had been hearing good reviews online and from friends who had tried them before me. Unfortunately, my experience did not match the hype. Personally, I thought the steak bites were dry, lacked flavor, and relied heavily on the sauce to be even remotely enjoyable. While the idea of steak nuggets might sound appealing, it did not execute the idea very well. Texture and taste are critical in any meat-based item, and these nuggets appear to miss the mark on both. Overall, I would give the Arby’s Steak Nuggets a 6/10.
Fellow freshmen were asked about their thoughts on the Arby’s steak bites. King Underwood had this to say about his steak nuggets, “They were not very good, but when added with the barbecue sauce, it elevated them.” King stated that his least favorite thing about the steak bites was “I didn’t like the taste and texture, and they were dry.” So, how would King rate the steak bites? He stated,” I would rate them 0-10 and would not recommend staying away from Arby’s.” Dakota Morton was asked about his favorite thing about the steak nuggets. He replied, “ They had a nice char and the BBQ sauce added more flavor.” Morton’s rating for the steak bites included, “ 5-10 without BBQ 6-10 with.” Morton said he would not recommend it to anybody. Finally, Aiden Wallace had this to say about his Arby’s steak nugget sampling, “My favorite thing about the steak had to be that they had protein.” He stated that his least favorite thing was “the taste, it tasted like old beef jerky, not the best.” Wallace rated the nuggets, a 5-10 without BBQ, 6-10 with, and would not recommend
In conclusion, in our official taste test, we decided we would not recommend the steak nuggets; they were dry and did not taste well. Our rating for our total experience was 5/10. Try at your own risk.
